‘Syllablism’ is the use of syllables to rhyme, with one syllable repeated continuously throughout a verse in order to create a hypnotic sound. It was developed by Prime Sinister, a British-Asian rapper from London when he was only 14. Now, 26 and on to his second album, ‘Long Live Syllablism’, Prime Sinister releases ‘Barium’, which is the first of his songs to be self-produced.

Written in his signature style, the song has already been lauded by critics, with Illustrate Magazine writing that Prime Sinister has “elevated the form with his head-spinning complex wordplay and otherworldly lyrics.”

‘Barium’ is the first of what looks to be a slew of singles and videos from Prime Sinister, as he looks to release his new album towards the end of 2022. His new album, which is entirely self-produced, has been in the works for almost 2 years and is near completion.

‘Syllablism’ was first introduced to the world on Prime Sinister’s project, ‘Riot Gear For The Soul’ in 2018, before being followed up by ‘Patient Zero’ in 2020 – the latter of which featured production from the very finest production minds in UK Hip-Hop. In total, Prime Sinister has accumulated over 1.5 million streams.

Now looking to catapult himself into the limelight, Prime Sinister’s ‘Barium’ builds up anticipation for what looks to be his masterpiece.

‘Barium’, by Prime Sinister is available to stream now on all digital streaming platforms.

Don’t stop the music! How to design and distribute gig posters in 7 easy steps https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2022/05/03/dont-stop-the-music-how-to-design-and-distribute-gig-posters-in-7-easy-steps/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=dont-stop-the-music-how-to-design-and-distribute-gig-posters-in-7-easy-steps https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2022/05/03/dont-stop-the-music-how-to-design-and-distribute-gig-posters-in-7-easy-steps/#respond Tue, 03 May 2022 11:22:27 +0000 https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/?p=4553 Being a fantastic musician is all well and good, but for a gig to be successful you must remember to promote it. It can be hard to know where to start when you have to design and distribute gig posters, so keep reading for 7 easy steps to help guide you through the process!

Step 1.

The first thing you want to do is decide on the general design you want to go for. You’ll need to take into consideration the type of gig and where it’s going to be hosted before deciding on a colour scheme, images and the typography. Because most posters are looked at from a distance, going for the font Sans Serif is a classic to ensure people can read the information, whilst still fitting in with the personality of the gig.

Step 2.

Once you know how you want the poster to look, design a prototype so you can see it in the flesh before committing to it. There’s nothing worse than ending up with a ton of posters you don’t want.

Step 3.

When you’re happy with the posters themselves, you need to decide how you want to print them. Using a digital duplicator machine is a good option if you’ve got a lot of posters to print and don’t want to waste the time or money heading to the local library and printing stacks of paper.

Step 4.

Now it’s time to think about how you’re going to distribute the posters you’ve printed. If your gig is a heavy metal or rock band, it’s unlikely you’re going to pin your posters up in care homes or cosy cafes. Instead, take some time to research where your target audience is likely to be located, and head there to pin your posters.

Step 5.

Don’t stop with just pinning posters up. Make sure you distribute posters by hand,  too. People will be more likely to attend an event if they’ve met the person or people who are going to be performing, not to mention that this gives them an opportunity to confirm any details with you.

Step 6.

When you’ve distributed posters by hand it’s always a good idea to print some more and head back out. It might seem like an unnecessary step, but you’d be surprised at how much difference a day or two can make. For example, if you’re targeting young teens you’d want to head somewhere on the weekend when they’re more likely to be out and about, and so can receive a poster from you personally.

Step 7.

The final step is a classic – word of mouth marketing.  Posters combined with the traditional word of mouth method of marketing are sure to guarantee you a full venue on the night of your gig. Remember, no publicity is bad publicity, so spread word of your event as much as possible.

Time to rehearse!

Now you’ve put in the work of designing and distributing your gig posters, it’s time to prepare for the event itself. With these tips you’re sure to have a full and lively crowd, so make sure you take the time to rehearse and properly prepare yourself for the experience.

Top 3 Musicians from the Younger Generation https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/11/09/top-3-musicians-from-the-younger-generation/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=top-3-musicians-from-the-younger-generation https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/11/09/top-3-musicians-from-the-younger-generation/#respond Tue, 09 Nov 2021 10:36:12 +0000 https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/?p=3510 It is fascinating every time a new musician takes over the world and overthrows the older generations, proving that there is always something new out there. There are many interesting new singers and performers, and they are the main reason fans want a ticket broker right away to get their passage for the next tour. And this is understandable since some of them really make impressive performances every time they hit the stage. The fact that they are young gives a higher motivation to prove to everyone in the world that they belong among the best of the best.

The list may be countless, but not many of them can be considered the best, and since it is not easy to pick one, we will see the top three musicians from the younger generation. So let’s get into it.

Billie Eilish

Probably number one on the list without a doubt, Billie Eilish is 19 years old, whether you believe it or not. She literally isn’t old enough to enter some of the United States nightclubs, yet she sings all across the world with her own songs. Eilish is one of the most authentic people on the planet, and you can quickly notice that in any of her interviews where she always tries to be herself. In essence, Eilish does not care a lot about what other people think of her music and stage appearances, which is the best way to approach a music career today.

Eilish has released two studio albums by now, four extended plays, and 29 singles. Even though extremely young and at the beginning of her career, she already has sold more than five million albums and 41 million digital singles. Of course, it is well deserved since she also has an authentic voice, and experts say that she is a soprano which is above the standard female pop alto. Last but not least, Eilish has a unique dressing style and is included in many different charity foundations. One thing is for sure, Billie Eilish will rule the music industry for many years to come.

Khalid

Another musician from the younger generation that deserves credit is Khalid, who is an American singer. As a kid, he used to travel a lot since he is from a military family environment, and taking a musical path seems to be a great decision. He has already released two studio albums, and his third one, ‘’Everything Is Changing’’ is on the way. Khalid has been nominated for numerous awards and has sold more than five million records all across the globe. Hitting the music charts at high peaks right away transformed him into a worldwide music superstar from a typical teenager.

He also collaborated with the queen of pop music Billie Eilish. His excellent music style motivated critics to compare him with legendary performers like James Blake and Frank Ocean. Khalid’s music genre is part of the pop music and R&B genres, and one of his most significant advantages is that he is considered a baritenor, a mix of baritone and tenor singing ranges. He also is one of the singers that became extremely popular in recent years and will rule the world more and more as time goes on. Such singing abilities don’t come often in the music industry, especially not these days.

Phora

Last but not least, the oldest of the three, but still part of the younger generation of musicians, is the American rapper Phora. He is also known as a great record producer and has released five studio albums until now, an album a year almost. Phora has many music videos for numerous songs and has collaborated with performers such as Mozzy, Terrace Martin, Kruk One, among others.

He loves to involve the audience when performing live and is always close to them while rapping on the stage. Phora’s highest rank on peak chart positions is at number five on the Billboard Top Rap Albums with his mixtape titled ‘’With Love’’ that was released back in 2016. His father persuaded him to try the music world, and he definitely made the right decision and started to be interested in a rap career when he was seven years old.

He may not be as popular worldwide as the previous singers on this list, but he is getting there step by step. And in today’s world, where there are many rappers from Generation Z, it is an enormous success to be considered one of the best.

Final Words

Here you had the chance to see the top three musicians from the younger generation that are already highly successful. No matter the choice of a music genre, it is undeniable that these three performers are outstanding. And when musicians like these announce a tour, tickets are sold out pretty quickly. So don’t waste any more time and buy tickets for their show to create some of the best memories in your entire life.

‘Bad to the Bone’ is the definitive biker anthem, research finds https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/09/28/bad-to-the-bone-is-the-definitive-biker-anthem-research-finds/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bad-to-the-bone-is-the-definitive-biker-anthem-research-finds https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/09/28/bad-to-the-bone-is-the-definitive-biker-anthem-research-finds/#respond Tue, 28 Sep 2021 11:12:31 +0000 https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/?p=2790 George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ classic revealed to be most-streamed biker song – with AC/DC named top band for bikers overall

George Thorogood & The Destroyers’ classic anthem ‘Bad to the Bone’ has been named the most-streamed biker song of all time, according to new research.

The revelation was made in Vertu Motorcycles’ recent study – which analysed 392 tracks across Spotify biker playlists with 51,428 followers.

Often remembered as the soundtrack to the iconic motorcycle scene in Terminator 2 (1991), ‘Bad to the Bone’ topped the list of biker tracks – beating the likes of ‘Born to be Wild’ (Steppenwolf), ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ (Guns N’ Roses) and ‘Highway to Hell’ (AC/DC).

AC/DC named best-loved biker band; Bon Jovi take top album

The study also showed that AC/DC were the best-loved biker band by far.

The group featured in 5% of all songs analysed – with ‘Highway to Hell’ and ‘Thunderstruck’ regarded as their two most popular tracks.

Bon Jovi’s 1986 release Slippery When Wet was named the most popular biker album of all time – followed closely by Guns ‘N’ Roses’ Appetite for Destruction (1987).

Bikers favour volume over speed

Examining listening habits, Vertu’s study also found that bikers tended to favour volume – with the three most popular biker songs (‘Bad to the Bone’, ‘Born to be Wild’ and ‘Le Grange’) the three loudest tracks in the top 10.

However, the data busted the myth that bikers always prefer fast-tempo tracks – with 50% of the top 10 below the average tempo line (across analysed songs).

Interestingly, none of the top 10 most popular biker songs are the fastest or loudest of the biker genre overall. This shows that perhaps biker hits are more diverse than they are given credit for (i.e. they don’t always need to be the loudest or the fastest – but being loud helps to break through to bikers).

80s tunes dominate – but bikers also love Avicii and Calvin Harris…

Vertu’s research also revealed some surprising inclusions.

Whilst 80s soundtracks dominated the top biker tracks, there was also room for electronic artists.

Two examples are Avicii and Calvin Harris – who appeared ninth and tenth on the list of favourite biker musicians overall. The data also found that motorcycle owners prefer this pair to typical ‘biker bands’ like Motörhead and KISS.

The featured Avicii ‘biker tracks’ include ‘Wake Me Up’, ‘Levels’, ‘I Could Be the One’, ‘The Nights’ and ‘Waiting for Love’; for Calvin Harris, the most popular were ‘My Way’, ‘Slide’, ‘Summer’, ‘Feel So Close’, and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’.

Why We All Love Good 4 U So Much – Nostalgia is Back with A Bang https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/06/15/why-we-all-love-good-4-u-so-much-nostalgia-is-back-with-a-bang/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=why-we-all-love-good-4-u-so-much-nostalgia-is-back-with-a-bang https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2021/06/15/why-we-all-love-good-4-u-so-much-nostalgia-is-back-with-a-bang/#respond Tue, 15 Jun 2021 14:02:15 +0000 https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/?p=2270 “Well, good for you, you look happy and healthy…” are 9 words that will resonate strongly with many of us but, Tik-Tok users more than most.

The Olivia Rodrigo hit “Good 4 U” has boomed in popularity since its release on May 14th – the song has more than 253 million listens on Spotify and a respective 1.3 billion views associated with the hashtag on TikTok.

While it has had so many of us bopping along – a few fans have noticed an incredible similarity to Paramore’s Misery Business.

Fan’s recognitions make complete sense too – there’s no denying we love this song because we love nostalgia. The last year has been filled with it. When we’re stuck at home during lockdown, we think of better, happier times and remember fond memories. Nostalgia has been spilling over into many different areas of our lives, from our clothes to our Instagram feeds.

GlobalWebIndex research found that we’re more optimistic when we’re nostalgic. Eight in 10 people answered that they feel nostalgic occasionally, and four in 10 said they do so regularly.

This undeniable nostalgia megatrend hasn’t gone unnoticed – even social media sites are getting involved in reminding us of happy times. Although it can be frustrating to remember all the nights out with friends and holidays we’re missing out on, we just can’t help but reminisce about the past.

In this article, we take a look at phenomenon.

Music is the answer

Let’s start with music. Looking back to the GlobalWebIndex research mentioned earlier, results found that music is one of the biggest triggers of nostalgia. When different age groups were asked what they missed the most, music was the most common answer. It seems that a song we love has the ability to transport us back to a memory. Because of this, people have been turning to Spotify to get that nostalgia fix.

The ever-loved music provider Spotify has delivered us Spotify Wrapped in recent years – a feature that gives users insight into their 50 top songs of the last year – the ones they listened to the most, top artists, genres, and many more. For those wanting to delve back deeper, Spotify Time Capsule lets you listen to your top songs of a particular year, allowing you to enjoy all the songs of a certain time.

Unsurprisingly, these nostalgic features were a massive hit and were posted across users’ social media feeds to show their friends their findings. In 2020, Spotify’s mobile app downloads surged by 21 per cent in the first week of December due to the feature.

You’ll also be glad to know that Spotify have also just launched their ‘Only You’ feature, leaning on the success of the aforementioned Wrapped campaign – definitely worth your attention!

Nostalgia marketing megatrend

Alongside being fun and slightly heart-wrenching, social media has been getting involved with ‘nostalgia marketing’ which we’re expecting to see continuing into 2021. In simple terms, nostalgia marketing is when brands introduce logos, colours, and themes from their previous branding to help remind us of “the good old days”.

Cast your mind back to October 2020 and you might remember when Instagram allowed users to revert to old app logos for one month only, including the classic 2010 logo that users were devastated to see decommissioned.

Visual remembrance

It isn’t just audio that gets our senses reminiscing – sight can be incredibly nostalgic too. Memories on Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Timehop are all brilliant examples of social media features that give us an insight into what we were posting on that exact day each year in the past. Over lockdown, it has been interesting to see how much our lives changed, and it gets us excited to return back to normal. We can see videos, pictures, and posts from years ago – things we would probably have little recognition of. And now that more and more of us are sharing things online, there are only going to be more memories to look back on.

Now you’ve started thinking about those summers back in 2007 when you were rocking out to pop-punk or dreaming about the weather and that fantastic outfit you once wore, why not dig out those mule sandals ready for a summer to remember!

So, there you have it – we love nostalgia and there’s nothing we can do about it!

Aspiring songwriters, singers or music groups will now have the opportunity to have their work critiqued by a highly sought after Grammy Award Winning record producer and mixer.

Steve Thompson of Steve Thompson Productions, is doing a worldwide, limited, open-call fundraiser, for the US based non-profit, the National Toxic Encephalopathy Foundation.

“There are so many talented musicians worldwide, but, usually there is that element that doesn’t propel them further. I am happy to give them a fresh eye critique of their performance.” Said Steve Thompson, Steve Thompson Productions

“This is a unique type of fundraiser, as it is not constrained by location. Thru the use of Zoom, groups, songwriters and artists worldwide will have the opportunity to “meet”, be “evaluated” and “perform” for Steve. “-Angel DeFazio, President, NTEF

His creative work is heralded as uncompromising, innovative, and timeless while focusing on the evolving pulse of today’s music.

A recognized multi-genre musical chameleon, Thompson adapts to and masters every genre of music he addresses, working fluidly in Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Trap, EDM, House, Reggae, Country – and, of course, mainstream and alternative rock, where he has produced, mixed, re-mixed and arranged 150+ diamond, platinum and gold records, from GNR’s “Appetite for Destruction” and Metallica’s “And Justice for All,” to Blues Traveler’s “Run-Around” and Butthole Surfer’s “Electriclarryland.”

As Thompson’s reputation for creating great music spread, it caught the ears of music mogul Clive Davis, who was so impressed with his passion and creativity that he took Thompson under his wing and mentored him.

Over the years, Davis showed Thompson the art of great and timeless pop tunes with phenomenal Grammy-winning results: Aretha Franklin’s “Who’s Zooming Who,” Madonna’s “Open Your Heart,” Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” and “I Knew You Were Waiting For Me” by George Michael & Aretha Franklin — all certified multi-million, multi-platinum sellers.

Today, Thompson’s discography boasts an impressive list of international A-List clientele that embraces everyone from John Lennon, the Rolling Stones, Wu-Tang, KORN, Public Enemy, and Madonna, to Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Marley, Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler, and Soundgarden.

ZØLTAN – From Gloomy Sunday to Black Christmas https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2020/09/03/zoltan-from-gloomy-sunday-to-black-christmas/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=zoltan-from-gloomy-sunday-to-black-christmas https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/2020/09/03/zoltan-from-gloomy-sunday-to-black-christmas/#respond Thu, 03 Sep 2020 15:16:29 +0000 https://www.universenewsnetwork.com/?p=790 Gloomy Sunday – A song’s story

There are songs with stories beyond belief. True stories. One of those songs is Szomorú vasárnap (also known as Gloomy Sunday) written in 1933 by Rezső Seress, a Hungarian pianist and composer. Szomorú vasárnap gained infamy as it became associated with a spate of suicides. Gloomy Sunday became well known throughout the English-speaking world after the release of a version by Billie Holiday in 1941.

Rezső Seress – A composer’s fate

Seress himself, the composer of Szomorú vasárnap, left this world by committing suicide.

His life would be worth writing about – actually, there’s a movie built around the story of the song, a German/Hungarian co-production, Ein Lied von Liebe und Tod (Gloomy Sunday – A Song of Love and Death/Szomorú vasárnap), directed by Rolf Schübel, which talks about Seress’ life, too.

Imagine this: Seress survived the Nazi forced labour during the Second World War and, shortly after his 69th birthday, he tried to commit suicide by jumping from a window of his apartment. There’s more: his attempt failed and later in the hospital, he choked himself to death with a wire.

Black Christmas – The little brother of Szomorú vasárnap

Black Christmas is a song released in December 2019, 86 years after the release of Szomorú vasárnap. Its composer is Zoltan Sebestyen, a songwriter from Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania who signs the lyrics.

Sebestyen’s fascination with Szomorú vasárnap turned out to be the platform for his song. He wanted to get close to the fire, but without doing any harm or getting harmed. Black Christmas speaks about a highly sensitive subject: the dark emotional ride of someone who remains alone for Christmas and has to battle depression and even suicidal thoughts.

Between Szomorú vasárnap and Black Christmas there’s an essential difference: in the latter, the main character takes a stand against sinking into the arms of despair. His words from the bridge section of the song are words of triumph, the triumph of life over the temptation of suicide:

You won’t take me,

you won’t break me…

Grief is your kingdom

and I won’t wear your crown!

Black Christmas is there to be of help to all who struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts during Christmas time and not only then. It is for anyone who would stop at Szomorú vasárnap/Gloomy Sunday, to offer the needed inner power to move on.

Of course, when it comes to depression and suicidal thoughts there’s no song which could replace specialized help, counseling and support – our recommendation, too.
