Arts and media students at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College have collaborated on an exhibition to showcase students’ work on the theme of ‘Liberation’ as galleries and venues around the country open again. The exhibition is open to visitors from Monday 13 June to Friday 17 June 2022. The students, based at NWSLC’s Hinckley Campus, are celebrating the end of the academic year and looking forward to showcasing their work in person for the first time since pandemic restrictions ended.
The show marks the culmination of two years’ hard work for final year students who are unveiling their work in art and design, fashion and textiles, games design, graphic design, journalism, interior design, performing arts, photography, and visual media.
Carrie-Anne Abdulai, assistant principal for higher education and adults at NWSLC said, “This show marks the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by our staff and students and will provide a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate their achievements and see first-hand the high standard of work that students produce at our creative arts campus in Hinckley.
“Creative arts are intended to be experienced face to face, and we are delighted to be able to open our doors after two years of staging the show online. While the online showcase enabled people as far away as Australia to view our students’ work, there is no replacement for the live experience of seeing this work up close in person. Recognising the benefits of both the physical and online world we have taken the bold step this year to hold a hybrid exhibition with physical showcases supplemented by an extended online exhibition.
“We are looking forward to opening our doors and enabling students to share their work online providing them with an opportunity to celebrate their creativity and recognise their achievements.”
‘Liberation’ is open to the public from Monday 13 June to Friday 17 June 2022 from 10am until 2pm and from 6pm – 9pm on Wednesday 15 June 2022. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book. The online exhibition will also be live from Monday 13 June.
Prospective students who are interested in the creative arts can find out more at the college’s Hinckley Campus open event on Monday 13 June from 5pm – 8pm. Visit the college website nwslc.ac.uk for details and times of other campus open events during the week.
